I met Tori through my best friend, Katie Hesketh, who worked with Tori at Ibotta in Denver. Everyone who has met Tori knows how easy it is to love her, she has the sweetest, and warmest personality. It was an instant friendship that I knew I wanted to last longer than the wedding, and am happy to say it has!
Their wedding was held at Sanctuary Golf Course in Castle Pines, Colorado in late February 2018. After seeing that GORGEOUS brick hallway in person, i’m pretty flattered officially be able to call myself a Sanctuary Golf Course Wedding Photographer. We were excited that a fresh blanket of snow fell earlier in the week. The snow made for the most romantic winter ceremony and bride and groom pictures, that we couldn’t have planned better ourselves. The wedding went flawlessly, and was so beautiful. Dan and his whole family were so much fun. I still can’t get over the dance reception photos, or the garter dance. It was something straight out of Magic Mike. The boy can dance.
Here is Tori’s breakdown of her and Dan’s love story!
The first time I met Dan was during an interview with Ryder Transportation in Denver, Colorado. It was December of 2012, and he was wearing a lime green golf shirt. My very first thought of him was “Wow. That’s a pretty bright shirt to be wearing in the middle of winter.” Fast forward to the following March, when I started my job at Ryder, Dan taught me the ropes of the position and a friendship quickly ensued.
It was during a Chive party in May that I realized I had developed feelings for Dan (I think it was then he realized liked me too…) and we started hanging out more and more outside of work (it also helped that he was friends with Brad Michaels too, so he was conveniently over our house more often than not). That December (the following events depend on who you ask because we both have different views on what happened), Dan decided he needed some time for himself to reflect on his life, so we took a break. We halted all communications (outside of work of course) until I was at the airport trying to fly home for the holidays, when I realized I didn’t actually have the printed ticket with me. The ONLY person that lived by me of course, was Dan so I called him and asked if he could drive to my house, grab the ticket and bring it to the airport. Of course, being the gentleman that he is, brought the ticket to me and I was able to go home. On New Years Eve, I decided to bake cookies for Dan as a thank you for what he did and dropped them off at his apartment. We were having a New Year’s party that night, and although Dan had declined Brad’s invite because “he didn’t want to make things uncomfortable”, I was secretly hoping he would come. To my surprise, Dan, Gus and Jackie all showed up and it was that night Dan revealed how lonely he had been for the past 4 weeks and asked if we could date again. TRYING to play hard to get, I told him I had to think about it, but of course that was short-lived and I said yes within a couple of days.
Really, the rest is history. Although it has only been 3 years since that fateful night, we have lived in 3 different houses (one which we renovated together – a true test of our relationship if you ask me), adopted our dog Hugo, traveled internationally 4 times!.
I can’t wait to marry my best friend, my rock and love of my life. We’ve had quite the story so far and I can’t wouldn’t want anyone else by my side on this crazy adventure called life.
